Following Guerra's contract rejection, the club have set a €27 million (£23m/$31m) price tag on him, with Villarreal reportedly retaining close to 30 per cent of his economic rights, according to Spanish outlet United, who have shown the highest amount of interest in Guerra, had made a bid of €25m (£22m/$29m) for the player.

Guerra is among four players targeted for contract renewals by newly appointed Valencia CEO Ron Gourlay during the current transfer window. Christian Mosquera, also offered new terms, declined the proposal and has since joined Premier League side Arsenal. The other two players, Diego Lopez and Cesar Tarrega, remain in negotiations with the club as they seek improved conditions before committing to extensions.

Italian side AC Milan are also in discussions for Guerra, viewing the Spanish midfielder as a potential alternative should their pursuit of Club Brugge’s Ardon Jashari fall through.
