ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
According to , La Liga's medical committee are expected to issue their decision regarding Marc-Andre ter Stegen's injury, which will play a crucial role for them to register Garcia for the upcoming season. However, in case the decision suggests the German has suffered a short-term injury of less than three months, Barca will use the final registration option where the president and/or another board member provides a personal guarantee, something which they did in Jules Kounde's case back in 2022.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
With La Liga to commence this week, Barca are unsure if new signing Garcia can take the field since he is not yet registered for the competition. The club had a feud with Ter Stegen after he refused to sign the club's post-surgery medical report stating he has a long-term injury. He has since agreed to sign the report, but La Liga is yet to give a final ruling. With their approval, Barca can use 80 per cent of his wages to fit Garcia into the team. If the period is four months, the percentage will be 50%. However, if the committee decides it to be less than four months, then the club would incorporate their alternative plan to register the new goalkeeper.
