West Bromwich Albion completed the signing of Charlie Austin from Southampton on transfer deadline day, with the striker signing a two-year deal at the club.
The 30-year-old was not involved in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Millwall in the Championship.
However, he was included against the Lions in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night and capped his debut with a goal in the first period.
As it turned out, Austin’s goal counted for nothing in terms of the score as Millwall came from behind to record a 2-1 victory, which booked their spot in the next round.
That said, it would have been a big moment for the new Baggies forward, who was replaced on the hour mark.
