After yet another wonderful performance for midfielder Andy Cannon, he has been given a new nickname by Wrexham team-mate James McClean.

Having already confirmed their promotion to League One, Wrexham eased past Crewe Alexandra in their second-last game of the season. Cannon scored the third goal of the day and his fifth of the season, and after the match, McClean had a special nickname for the 28-year-old as he called him the 'Skint De Bruyne' as revealed in a post-match video shared by the club.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Cannon has been a mainstay for the Red Dragons this season as he has played a total of 34 games for Phil Parkinson's side as they made their way to their second straight promotion. Wrexham are currently placed third in League Two after Mansfield Town's late comeback win against Gillingham.

Cannon joined the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned club in the winter of 2022 from Championship strugglers Hull. He has since become a mainstay in the middle of Parkinson's side as they continue their dream journey to the top tier of English football.

The Tameside-born midfielder will be in action yet again in midfield in Wrexham's last game of the season as they prepare to take on League Two champions, Stockport County on Saturday, April 27.
